My Project
My classroom is an integrated project-based learning environment where students embark on a learning experience geared towards helping them grow independently and advocate for themselves and others. Their advocacy for themselves and others is a source of pride and inspiration for our learning community.
My students are not passive learners; they come into my class expecting to work hard and actively facilitate their learning through project-based lessons and educational opportunities.
My students take ownership of what and how they learn, demonstrating their initiative and engagement. They are in grades six, seven, and eight at a rural alternative Middle School.
Hokki stools will be in constant use as wiggly bodies move without distracting others. Heavy-duty work tables will allow students to have a sturdy workspace and use project materials safely. Sharpies, a versatile tool, are used not only to create art for our space but also to advocate for others through visual storytelling and awareness campaigns. I plan to have students share the books, discuss the themes and then use the art supplies to create advocacy art projects.
