My students need adapted books to access the general education curriculum!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Miranda's classroom raised $207

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed? A review of student grades and school-wide data indicate that students with disabilities are the lowest performing sub-group in elementary school.
The students in my classroom are students diagnosed with autism.
Many of my students have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. The typical student in my class reads several grade levels below their current grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense. Ninety percent of our students are Latino.
The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population. Special education teachers are expected to deliver excellent instruction in science, math, English and history without the requisite tools to teach our students. My students will make wonderful progress with your support and generosity!
My Project
All of my students are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, which makes it difficult for my students to access curriculum and content. All my students vary in their ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations. I teach three grade levels in our class and adapted books are the best way to incorporate STEAM and rigor in my lessons! My students would greatly benefit from personalized adapted books, at their level, addressing their individual needs. Adapted books will help my students succeed!
We will use the laminator, book binder, velcro, and paper to create personalized books that will help my students grow their phonics and number sense skills!
The books will be personalized to their needs and are an engaging and fun way to learn.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
