My Project

The students at my Title 1 school will greatly benefit from a focus on problem-solving and critical thinking. These are skills they need to become successful 21st century forward thinkers.

With these materials I plan to incorporate stations that promote critical thinking and problem solving with a STEAM emphasis.

With the peg board and golf tees I plan to create a Lite-Brite type station in which students can create images or use yarn to create geometric patterns such as mandalas. With the Legos I plan to challenge students with different tasks such as creating a Legos marble maze. With the Snap Circuits I plan to incorporate science into our stations by setting up various challenges in which students must figure out how to get electricity to flow to certain areas and around various obstacles. Checkers will help students think critically and problem solve due to the nature of the game itself.
