My Students

Albert Einstein quotes, "The mind that opens to a new idea never returns to its original size." Therefore, my goal is to provide my diverse learners with meaningful projects and instructional resources to address the disabilities that impede their learning, such as attention deficit, dyslexia, social-emotional, and autism. Their past experiences of failure in school have outweighed their successes as they also deal with socioeconomic ills within their communities, making the burden to learn more difficult.

Nevertheless, despite their circumstances, my students are inquisitive, creative, hopeful, and eager to come to school- their haven; therefore, they know that their teacher holds their minds dear to her heart and will continue to discover innovative ways to challenge them to think and learn!

Aligning each student to the appropriate instructional resources, my students can grasp concepts through a combination of visual stimuli and usage of hands-on materials, as well as respond to intervention through interactive, arts-infused, project-based, hands-on learning activities. With time and investment in exploring how they learn, my students will leave my classroom with a newfound growth mindset!

My Project

My students learn in non-traditional ways as they are diverse in how they think and process information. What I have discovered is that Kid-Friendly, High-Interest, Project-Based Tasks provides them with in-depth conceptual knowledge of varied concepts in which they are more eager to explore and take charge of their own learning.

Students become more inquisitive as they partake in hands-on learning.

A drone embraces the concepts of science, engineering and technology as we have studied how scientists are able to bring some of the most dangerous places up close and personal, how computer science uses obstacle-detection and motion-planning to fly a drone and mathematics, as well as how filmmakers and artists use drones for changes in perspective to enhance an art piece or storytelling.

The goal is to give students in low-income communities, access to high-end technology and exposure to the onset of Science, Technology, Education, Art and Math careers.
