This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I my class is a Specific Learning Disabled 4 & 5 grade special day program. I am also Volunteer and teach our GATE / high achiever 2-5 grade afterschool STEAM club as well as our Afterschool VEX Robotics teams ( boy and girl team this year).

My school is an intercity IB public school, that requires our fifth graders to do a culminating project.

I also want to bring robotics and more technology into our whole school.

My Project

Our school has a STEAM Club as well as a Vex IQ robotics team, but our STEAM teachers & principal, as well as our parents want Coding & basic Robotics skills to start from K-5th grade. The Wonder Dash robots are great introductory robots that we can have teachers check-out and use in their classrooms. Currently with Distance Learning, we can have our students start to learn how to code using the free Wonders & Blocklify apps. For uppergrade we can use Code.org as well. When the students return to school, they can try their coding with the Dash Robots and learn to observe and modify their coding. These materials will benefit the STEAM Club as well as the whole school.
