Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Theatre Arts in a Title I campus. Eighty-five percent of the students are considered low-income. Many of the students have stayed with the same groups since they were in Kindergarten, and they have formed very tight relationships with each other. They love collaborating and challenging each other in many different projects we do in the Theatre Class.

Creative, innovative, and excited; my students are enthusiastic to create and use their imagination on any project.

They are extremely creative when it comes to technology, and they are able to integrate all subjects using their iPads and the equipment in the theatre room.

My Project

We are in need of STEAM projects and kits. This is my first year as a STEAM Coordinator, and I see the challenge of need materials to help the students grow with collaboration, communication, creative thing, and creativity. With these kits, I know our students here would thrive. They will learn about chain reactions, architecture, engineering, and much more. Just know how much fun learning would be using these kits would bring so much joy to these students. All of these kits will help develop students' STEAM fluencies, and could even help and be integrated with core classes such as RLA.

We can use the architecture kit to help students with design and engineering.

They can also add it to RLA by making a video using the houses as the setting and telling the story with stick puppets. When students are learning about cause and effect, the chain reaction kit would be a good STEAM integration.
