My students need Dot, a programmable robot, to provide fun and engaging ways of learning digital literacy. The LABAIDS decomposition kit and owl pellets will teach about composting, life cycles, and environmental education.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the various challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
Do you remember how excited you were when your teacher had materials for you to investigate and enrich your learning?
I love seeing excitement in my students' eyes when they have hands-on materials to manipulate and investigate as we study about various units.
I teach kindergarten through fifth grade gifted students at a public school in Georgia. My students really enjoy hands-on and project-based learning activities. They are enthusiastic about learning, inquisitive, and love to share and expand their knowledge as they collaborate.
My Project
All of the materials I am requesting will enhance learning and get students prepared for jobs in S.T.E.A.M.( Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). I am requesting Dot, a hands-on, programmable robot that will teach creative problem solving, computational thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy. The Dash and Dot Building Bricks provide additional coding skills. The LABAIDS Decomposition Kit, the 'Now You See It, Now You Don't' See Through Compost Container, and the Owl Pellets will teach students about decomposition, composting, life cycles, food chains, and environmental education. The soil thermometer will help students learn how temperature effects the decomposition process and the growth of new plants.
I want to give children an exciting environment to work in that will encourage curiosity and creativity in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
I hope to foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime by enhancing my lessons with hands-on materials.
