My students are creative, compassionate, and eager to learn. We are a school with a STEAM initiative with a focus on agriculture. The students work in collaborative groups on various STEAM-focused projects and activities. Using the school-wide design thinking process, the students develop a plan to solve hands-on activities and challenges. Through Project-based learning, the students use critical thinking skills to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts being taught.
My Project
The materials for this project will provide a fun and engaging learning experience for students when learning about fossils. The students will explore Identifying and fossils using the Fossil Collection sorting kit. Students will apply what they have learned in class to Identifying the various types of fossils. Students will use the clay to make fossil impressions. The dinosaur fossils and clay will also allow students to learn how paleontologists study and excavate fossils. Students will also be able to get a closer look at the way amber fossils are formed using the amber exploration kit. This hands-on project will give the students a deeper understanding of how fossils are formed and what the environment was like in areas they are found in.
The students will apply what they have learned about fossils in a real-life hands-on project.
To demonstrate their understanding, students will create their own fossil and explain the process in which it was formed.
