Help me give my students the ability to extend the use of our current STEAM resources with add-ons like Puzzlets for Dash and a Roller Coaster Building Set to increase computational thinking.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Crouss's classroom raised $629

My Students
My K-to-5 elementary school is in Bronx, New York. The students come from low income families and are disadvantaged.
Our school lunch program serves 98% of our total students.
The population is 95% Hispanic with the remainder African American and Asian Pacific.
Most of our students have no access to computers or any other technology. We have implemented a STEAM program which includes computer science at the school giving them access to computers and various creative materials at least two times a week.
We want to make it easier for our students to complete programming projects by completing them in a flexible seating classroom.
My Project
The use of robots is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students solve math problems then code their robots to travel to the correct answer. Using Puzzlet kits will allow the younger grades (K to 2) to use current robots with hands-on activities without the necessity for iPads.
STEAM kits allow the students to build technological structures using provided materials, and later they will replicate building the structures using recycled materials.
This will allow them to apply the technological knowledge they acquired to demonstrate their understanding of the Engineering Design Process.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
