STEAM Education Helps to Fan the Flame of Invention

Help me give my students a Cricut laser cutter and the tools needed for them to build and create new inventions with the STEAM curriculum.

My Students

I teach all the Kindergarten through 5th grade students in my county. That's 3,600 students in 179 classrooms. We learn in a mobile classroom that is a school bus converted into a classroom/lab. I travel to each school and provide STEAM instruction to each classroom in the school.

I provide students with project based learning with technology integration so that they can apply the knowledge that they have learned in the classroom.

I have them use the technology and resources to learn how to solve problems and become scientists, engineers, mathematicians, artists, and computer scientists.

I teach ALL students. I teach students with disabilities, gifted students, students with behavior issues, and all regular students. They love coming into the mobile classroom to apply what they have learned and to solve challenges and think critically and creatively.

My Project

I am requesting a Cricut laser cutter and the accessories needed for my students to build and create new inventions with the STEAM curriculum.

When the students come to the STEAM Lab, they are able to build and create products to solve a problem or meet a goal.

Students learn about building electrical circuits and then design something that utilizes that knowledge. The Cricut and related tools will allow the students in my classroom to make models of their inventions much easier. Cutting wheels and 3-D objects for the students' inventions is very tedious for young learners. The tools will allow them to fulfill their dreams of creation without becoming frustrated with fine motor skills that have not developed as much as their imagination.
