Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of creative young people from all over New York City. This year my students will conceptualize, design, and build sculptural pieces that will tap into their critical thinking skills, creative problem solving abilities, while combining mathematical concepts to create artistic pieces. They will also have the chance to be mentored by professional artists and makers while learning skill and techniques. With the money we receive we will design a makers space, with furniture and equipment to help them bring their ideas to fruition.
My Project
As FSA students return to in-person learning, they will have the opportunity to collaborate with artists and craftspeople in a series of art workshops to bring their creative ideas to fruition.
I want to create a safe and creative learning environment for students, our guest artists, and our partners to work in.
While planning for the new protocols around shared spaces; these stools, masks and goggles will allow us to design a space in which we can safely distance, while still being able to navigate different stations in the art room to make our projects.
