My Project
My Kindergarteners thrive in a hands-on environment! They love using all sorts of manipulatives to visualize problems, use their imagination, and be creative! Due to COVID-19, my students need extra support in areas such as, fine-motor skills, social interaction, and using their imagination. I strive to provide an array of materials to benefit my students, their individual needs, and their love of learning, in a safe and educational learning environment.
STEAM activities help foster creative thinking, problem solving, and innovative thinking, all important factors in my growing Kindergarteners!
This project will fund a variety of STEAM manipulatives to target Math and Science goals in a fun hands-on, play-based environment. For example, students will be able to use their hands to manipulate engineering centers, use magna-tiles to build 2-D and 3-D figures, my personal favorite, students will be able to participate in small groups to build a marble run! I have also added a building brick challenge kit that I believe every child will be drawn too! This kit will boost steam skills and give those young engineers a sense of confidence once completing a challenge. All of activities above will foster participation, social interaction, problem solving skills, and creativity, all while helping students to develop fine motor skills, cognitive ability, and encourage imagination.
The impact these materials will have on my students and my classroom are unquantifiable! They will be well loved, utilized, and appreciated by us all.
