This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third-grade students come from a low-income area. We are located in the highest crime and low socioeconomic area in California. One hundred percent receive free breakfast and lunch. Eighty-five percent of our students are English Learners. Our African American students struggle with academic language. Many parents cannot afford basic school supplies. Our teachers believe in the efficacy model--The Get Smart method. Think you can, work hard, and get smart. We teach the students the more you work the smarter you get!

My Project

The air purifier is will help us have clean air. When we are back in the classroom, it will provide the cleanest air quality during the COVID- 19 pandemic. I want to avoid spreading germs. It will help cut down on student absences and teacher illnesses. The air purifier will benefit all of us. My students and I will appreciate having clean air to breathe. The air purifier will help the virus from not spreading, not to mention the emotional security and the alleviation of anxiety of being indoors. They will feel safe and protected. We will have to wear face masks every day in the classroom. Having extra masks is important in case someone forgot theirs or needs a clean one. Having my own personal fogger machine will allow me to deep clean my classroom weekly, to help get rid of germs.
