My students are an amazing group of kids. They are enthusiastic about school and embrace everything we do in class. They love reading, P.E., math, and science. Our school is a kindergarten through eighth-grade school located in rural California. It serves 450 students. Our school is surrounded by forests and mountains and has daily visitors such as geese, turkeys, and deer.
Our school has a strong academic and athletic culture.
I want to maintain our strength in these areas by continuing to provide materials to enrich my students' experiences.
My Project
I am requesting a Garmin Smartwatch and charger for my students. I have a student who is in need of being connected to the office and parent for medical reasons. I am carrying two devices for this student whenever we are out of the classroom. These devices are to make sure my student's body is functioning properly.
One of the quickest ways to communicate with the office or parent is to text.
Unfortunately my smartwatch broke and I cannot take my phone with me as I already am handling two devices. Having a smartwatch will allow me to be in contact with the parent and office at all times. It will allow me to be "hands free" of my own devices and will allow me to carry and focus on the student's devices instead.
Having this smartwatch will help keep my student involved with school activities like running on the track, engaging with 4th grade buddies on a different playground and to play at recess without being tethered to more technology. This will help my student have a more normal school experience with less stress for all involved.
