Staying Hydrated and Safe With Spectacular School Supplies!

My Students

I am a 2nd-grade teacher who teaches students in a low-income/high-poverty school in one of the largest districts in our state. They are so excited to come to school and show up every day with a smile on their face despite the challenges they go through. They have a love of learning that is infectious and love trying new things!

My students are energetic, caring, loving, and sweet children who just need a little extra support to become successful and reach their full potential!

Many of my students come from bilingual families who are very hard working. They are always trying their best despite difficulties they may be facing. As a teacher, I try to do all I can for them and instill a love of learning as they give to me and provide them the skills needed to become strong, independent, future leaders of this world. We laugh, grow, and learn together and with your help, the sky is the limit of what we can achieve in our classroom!

My Project

COVID has affected my students in many different ways. From wearing masks all day, to social-distancing from their friends, and not being able to share classroom supplies such as crayons, markers, scissors, and pencils. Many if not all of my students come from low-income families who are not able to provide their own materials for their child so I provide them for them. Being in a Title 1 school I am unable to provide individual supplies to each of my students so we have always shared supplies until COVID.

I want to give my students every opportunity to be successful and have all the materials and resources they need to flourish in this ever changing world due to COVID.

We still have many COVID procedures in place to keep everyone safe and healthy. I would like to provide my students with their own pencil box filled with their own markers, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, pencils, erasers, etc. so they do not have to worry about finding a pencil just to complete their work. I want my students to know they have everything they need in the classroom that is theirs without having the worry of finding a clean pencil to use or crayon to color with.

I would also like to be able to supply my students with their own reusable water bottle since my students are unable to drink out of the water fountains due to COVID. Having their own water bottles my students will be hydrated through out the day to keep them healthy and refreshed. Our school has installed water bottle filling stations to make things easier for students to fill up their water bottles.
