This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Nationwide, there is a huge emphasis on reading and mathematics success. While I agree that this is vital, I also believe that children need to focus on health education and their well-being.

We are a small, Pre-K through 5th grade public school with a little over 500 students.

Our school's diversity is what makes us special. The children learn how to appreciate their unique qualities and share their experiences. Our second grade class has 24 students. There are three second grade classes and all three teachers collaborate so that all students work with each other, and with all three teachers. We are a mini family.

My Project

New physical education equipment will help students get excited about doing exercise. I am requesting jump ropes, basketballs, handballs, balance beams, and flags. This equipment can be used in so many ways and teachers will be able to implement new games and activities to get the students moving! Students will not only be more conscious of the importance of exercise, they will have a great time doing it. The students will take what they have learned in school and carry their new knowledge home.

Physical education equipment is a luxury at our school.

Since many of the resources at our school are paid from fundraisers and donations, the monies are mostly designated to literacy and math support. As a nation, we need to highlight the importance of physical fitness and do what we can in our schools to relay that message.
