My Students

I am going back to my roots in first grade. YAY! I am so excited to keep our learning momentum going with my sweet first graders. I teach in a Title 1 school housed by majority Hispanic and African American students.

My school district has over 220 schools with 152 of them being elementary schools. We have over 87,000 elementary students and 70% are Hispanic.

My Project

My students need Wobble Chairs, Comfy Pillows, Flex-Space Balance Ball Seat and an Automatic Ball Inflator to help focus on learning. Recently flexible seating has been a movement in the field of education. Not only does flexible seating give the students the power to choose where they sit, it also helps them to remain focused and on task. Such a simple change has proven that providing students with the options of where and how they work makes a difference. Many studies have shown higher completion rate of assignment, better performance, and more engagement among the class.

This past year I have had the pleasure of using flexible seating in my class and have been amazed at the changes I am seeing in my students.

I want to take this to the next level and give my students even more options on where they can sit and complete their work. Whether it be on a stability ball, or a wobble seat. I want the students to choose what helps them learn!
