This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I remember the first time I used Weekly reader with my class, they were so excited. I like to make all my children feel special and with Weekly Reader I can do just that (with your help of course).
My students are an energetic group of 5-year-olds who love to do anything they see the older kids do.
At this point, that is reading and having something to call their own. With Weekly Reader we can do just that. To see the look on their faces when they can read the magazine is priceless. Even before being able to read, there is so much information to gather from Weekly Reader. My students can not wait to tell anyone who walks into our class what they've learned. With Weekly Reader, they will know about holidays, current events and all things so they will be able to communicate what they know and be able to show how they stay current.
My Project
With a subscription to Weekly Reader you can help to bring the love of reading out in a child and the pride that comes with it. They will feel more confident when learning to read because the pictures will definitely help them with letter/sound recognition skills. They will feel important because they will not just be reading some no name book, they will be reading and learning from Weekly Reader. They will be learning about what's happening in the world around them through the topics of Weekly Reader which will coincide with our kindergarten curriculum.
With your help we can help a child to have a magazine to take home to his family and read with.
This might be the only magazine this child will come in contact with at home as for many, magazines are a want and not a need. In these times, wants are overshadowed by needs. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping my children to stay current in this ever changing world we live in.
