Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are full of high energy and ready to engage in all areas. They come from all backgrounds and attend a small public community school in the San Fernando valley.

They love to learn many things especially through movement and physical activities.

With STEAM playing a large role in their learning this year, we still need to remember another important subject, physical education. Being active at a young age, will instill life long lessons in being healthy and being able to cooperate with others in group activities.

My Project

Teaching physical education will keep the children focused and instill life long health goals. They will be able to learn proper locomotive skills such as jumping, throwing, etc. All of the equipment such as the balls, bean bags, jump ropes, hula hoops, etc will be used with the physical education standards in mind.

Having the child sized equipment storage will be used during their recess/lunch time so they can easily have access to the equipment.

Once I teach the children a specific p.e. Skill, I will put out the equipment and they can practice it. They will also get to choose which physical activity they want to play with their classmates. Being active is very important because they will use it their entire lives.
