Help me give my students a simple way of reading current events daily as part of a routine. Also be able to pull resources to use in my classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The TPT resource is to be able to pull out resources such as organizers for concepts discussed in class to simplify the critical thinking and writing process that tends to occur in my class. I also find that the resources that other teachers create are more higher level/advanced than other materials since they know what students are going to need for test prep/high order thinking that I love to expose my students to. Student with me for a year, thinker forever.
Student need to "Stay in the Know." Many people tend to think that students stay up-to-date with current events, but this is not the case.
They see short blurbs or headlines, but rarely take a physical copy of a full story and read it. The UPFRONT magazines will allow students to expand their knowledge about the world around them and in a more traditional format so they can see, feel, and touch a real magazine to expose the importance of reading current events/issues. Many essays that they write for my AP class, they need current event exposure to be able to use as evidence within their essays. This has been a weakness for them as they often realize the importance of paying attention when it is too late. I would love to keep my students well-informed with the class set of magazines in a more traditional means, but also have the digital copies for others or for home reading. I have used them years ago and have been missing them since. They will help with the spread of awareness in class and hopefully make them life-long learners.
