Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Donors Choose sent me to the SPARK PE workshop to teach strategies and activities to my kindergarten students. My students are always excited to exercise and have SPARK game time, however, due to funding; I have not been able to implement all of the lessons. We have few balls and bean bags, but not enough for the class.
We are a high poverty school in the midst of apartments and single family homes.
Over fifty percent of the students are from low income homes and they are on the free/reduced lunch. I have a diverse group of students from many ethnic backgrounds.
My Project
Exercising is the best way to stay healthy and promote well being for students. My class love to exercise to the SPARK time. They enjoy team building activities and organized games. When I asked for their wish list, all of them suggested that we need more PE equipment. Since the games are built upon the previous lessons, we needed more resources. More cones are needed for boundaries, beanbags to manipulate throwing to targets and hoops for team sports.
Want to stay fit?
Exercise. Want to promote team building skills? Get into SPARK. It will promote healthy lifestyle. It is a gateway to happy students who are healthier and living a more active lives. Our students will be able to teach each other that health and sports go hand in hand. By exercising and seeing that they have more energy to learn, students will want to come to school.
This project will benefit all kindergarten students at our school. Each class will be able to spend 60 minutes or longer with SPARK lessons. From Review of previous skills to - challenge - to SPARK it up activities, we can definitely have fun staying fit.
When you fund this project, all 4 kindergarten classes will benefit. I will be able to teach a better P.E program and it will make a huge impact on our students' well being and their motivation to exercise
