My Project
Our classroom has 11 diverse little learners from grades UTK-1 grade with different sensory sensitivity needs who need a sensory area. My students often need breaks due to sensory needs; they are over-whelmed, tired, and dysregulated. They often need breaks to calm down, self-regulate, and refresh to participate in their daily routines. Our sensory corner is extremely limited with equipment, and we need help with sensory toys, mats, and fidgets.

My students with disabilities have different sensory needs that require sensory equipment to help them self-regulate their behavior and sensory needs. By creating and adding sensory equipment to our sensory corner, it will help students have an area where they can calm down by laying on a mat, stepping on liquid tiles, and touching textures. We would like to add sensory tiles so they can walk on the tiles and see the different colors. The sensory fidgets will help them with their wiggly hands and help them concentrate during the school day. I want to keep the toys available in baskets so they can request them when they feel they need breaks. We would like fun sensory toys that they can play with and manipulate to make their bodies calm. Our classroom needs help with new sensory equipment and materials to make our sensory corner fun and enjoyable when the students need to take calm-down breaks so they may enjoy their school day.
