Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Math is one of our favorite times of the day. My students love math, however, often times the new Common Core concepts are frustrating for them. They need math stations so they can get a chance to review and retain what has been taught.
I teach in a high-need school where, despite limited resources, my students are excited and eager to learn.
My second graders learn best through hands-on experiences. They need to be able to create and explore in order to grow. My students need to be active learners. The best way to accomplish this is by giving them math stations to investigate the new Common Core math concepts.
My Project
Every day we have 2 periods for math. One is for the lesson and the other is for small group centers. I am requesting a complete set of math activity stations for my students. These math stations will allow my students a chance to independently practice concepts that have been taught in a fun, new and engaging way. They will use these centers to tackle the tougher math concepts from the Common Core Standards.
Your help will give my students a chance to gain confidence and independence in math.
These math centers will let the children enjoy learning through fun, engaging activities instead of worksheets. Adding these centers will make my students successful and help to close the achievement gap.
