Help me give my students some basic supplies to get started on weekly STEM challenges. Post-it notes for comments, feedback and new ideas. Pencils, white out, card stock, storage boxes, and a project board to present outcomes.
Hi! I teach an amazing group of sixth, seventh and eighth grade, gifted and talented students at a high poverty middle school. I am constantly impressed by their hard work and determination to succeed academically and personally.
One of my previous students was recently the valedictorian of her graduating class and is currently studying at Yale.
I believe that science should always be taught in a hands-on and exciting way, and my students love it! Wouldn't it be great to have a positive impact on these great minds?
My Project
I work for an inner city public school and getting supplies for projects is very difficult. I would like to start a STEM makerspace in my classroom.
Basic supplies like post it notes will allow students to provide feedback, present ideas, and record outcomes.
Even a simple clip and card stock can be used to make mini rockets, air planes and launchers and so much more.
Students will also collect information about the engineer and design process and present their processes using the display boards. Without these basic materials, STEM projects get incredibly pricey and difficult to make a reality in classrooms.
