Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Located in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, ACSM opened its doors in 2015 as a public charter school that has been thriving since day one. The mission of the ACSM is to produce inspired thinkers and creative members of society, through the infusion of music into an academically challenging environment. The students at the school are involved in a well-rounded education that includes daily music classes.

With your generous donation to our percussion and band classrooms, our students will definitely be even more driven to succeed in all they do, while having fun doing it!

My Project

The materials that your donation is going towards will allow the ACSM band and percussion ensemble to more easily obtain class information. I am requesting a snare drum, and cymbal stands for the ACSM percussion ensemble so that more students are able to learn the appropriate ways of setting up equipment and performance technique. A new drumset is also on the list. Every year at ACSM, the students are able to perform in "Battle of the Bands". Around 12 rock bands are formed by the students, and a competition is held. In previous years, it has been a struggle to allow all of the bands to have practice time, because we do not have enough full drumsets. The last items on the list will benefit the ACSM concert band. We are a thriving ensemble, and are in need of a consistently working tuba, so we can eliminate spending a good bit of money on repairs for our current instrument. With your donation, the learning will never stop in and outside the classroom!

Every dollar donated will surely bring a smile to our students, as they are looking forward to being able to further their music education with their new materials!
