Help me give my students the materials to start their year prepared, and also to have a fun first geography project.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Middle schoolers are weird, immature, and impossible, but also quite fun to work with. It's basically the insanity of childhood, and the defiance of adolescence rolled into one package
I like to start each school year by giving all students the materials they need to be successful, I also like to start the year with geography units so that students understand the environment the historical events they study are occurring in.
My school supplies pencils, and scissors and highlighters, but the most important supply is definitely the composition notebook. Handing one to a student as soon as they open the door, really sets them on a path where they feel they are instantly ready.
The other materials are for the very first geography project my students will work on. I have found geography to be a very important foundational skill for history.
The paper plates are for my 7th graders who will receive two plates each to represent the two hemispheres. They will be given a printout of the continents and ocean names scrambled up and will cut them out and glue them into the correct "hemisphere" plates. The plates will then be affixed on top of a construction paper project where students lay out where they are in the world (neighborhood, city, state, country, continent, planet).
The cardboard, glue and clothes pins are for my 8th graders who will be making a topographical map of the United States by gluing down beans of different colors to represent mountains, deserts, plains, and bodies of water. The clothespins are to separate the protects from each other as they dry.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
