My students need some odds and ends to start the year fresh; a new timer, nametags, primary paper, magnets and colored pencils.

My Students
Welcome to our Fantastic First Grade! I teach an amazing group of 6-7 years old children. They are happy, sweet, and eager to learn because they know one day they will change the world.
Almost ninety percent of our school population come from low-income homes, but what we lack in money, we make up for in effort and enthusiasm!
My students come from the west side of our city and face very real challenges every day, yet come to school ready to learn. I am here to make sure they reach for the stars, no matter what obstacles we might face.
We have a large, happy, inclusive classroom- which means I am lucky enough to teach excited students with a variety of learning styles and backgrounds; special education and general education combined. Everyday is an opportunity. I want them to be as happy learning as I am to be teaching.
My Project
Our classroom needs some new resources so that my students can come into a bright, organized, happy room where they can start the year off right. Walking into a room with shiny new name tags, a child friendly timer, and supplies just for them will result in smiles from ear to ear.
Learning to read and write is hard work; with paper and tools specifically designed for little hands and young minds, these goals become less daunting and highly achievable.
The paper we have ordered is made just for little learners- using the 3 specially spaced and colored lines helps them know where to start letters and how to print properly. Engaging lessons using chart paper and magnets to model literacy skills help students make deeper connections and inspire them to keep going. The magnet letters allow them to learn about phonics with hands on fun. When inspired students have the proper tools like primary paper, composition books with pages that won't fall out and space for a picture, and woodless colored pencils that we will never have to sharpen, the possibilities are endless. Our supplies will stay organized with our magnetic folder pockets and heavy duty magnets to hold up our chart paper. Just wait and see what we can do!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
