My students need art supplies and books to use for art time. Books are needed for a small library. We need a bluetooth speaker to reinforce listening skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is a high energy group of students. They are all English Language learners and they are extremely eager to grow and develop strong reading and writing skills. I have been teaching eight years and this is one of the most enthusiastic and verbal class I have ever had.
They are learning to read but love books.
They love to learn about space, planets, animals and their favorite super heroes. Most of my students come from low income households. They value learning and look forward to coming to school everyday.
My Project
My students love working with art materials. They are working on creating pictures that reflect their lives. I use art materials a lot for social and emotional learning projects. I have a difficult class this year so I have been trying multiple teaching methods to help with their behavior. I will use the speaker to promote positive behavior to assist with transitions in class. I play classical and peaceful music for my students while they are working and this helps with focus and engagement.
My students will read literature books that help them understand their feelings.
My students come from tough neighborhoods and the arts are a great way for students to express themselves. I am incorporating more dance and music into our everyday routines so that students can build a connection with visual art, dance, music and drama from an early age. I want to teach students about reading newspaper articles and how to maneuver through a periodical. The Scholastic newspapers will assist with this task.
My school does not provide many art materials. I try and do at least one art project a week. I want paper and paint so that my students can create beautiful cards and works of art for their families. We will have an art show on family literacy night and I would love for these resources to be used for that project.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
