My Students
We are a kindergarten classroom in the Bronx. All of my students come from low income homes. They come in eager to learn but sometimes we do not have the resources. The neighborhood that my students grow up in is not the safest- which means school must be a treasured experience at all times. My students have such a strong desire to learn, regardless of any obstacle in their way.
My students come from different places, but in our classroom, we are a family.
They deserve a classroom that promotes not only that family feeling but a strong learning environment as well.
My Project
My students often come to school with very limited to none of the school supplies needed to help them learn. When students have their own supplies they develop more self confidence and they have a feeling of pride and ownership.
These supplies will allow my students to each have their own set of pencils, crayons, glue sticks, boxes and art supplies to help them complete their assignments.
Students are empowered and motivated when they have their own school supplies. My students will use these notebooks, crayons, pencils and daubers to complete assignments as well as to edit and revise their writing. My students will use these supplies on a daily basis in many different ways.
