Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

It's a brand new year and I can't wait to start teaching. I get so excited about the new school year. I have so many hopes and dreams for my new students. I don't know all their faces yet but I do know some of their names. I was looking through their phonemic awareness scores so I could start planning for this next year. I can't wait to teach them all to read! Only thing is some of them are going to need a little extra push. I know they will all be reading by the end of the year because I will not rest until they do. I could however, use a little help. This is the second part of the proposal and it is for the: Listen & Learn Phonemic Awareness Activity Program. Listening to these CD's and doing the activities that go along with them will help the students to hear phoneme substitution, listen and follow directions, identify and manipulating sounds. The students will be having so much fun doing these hands on listening activities that they will not even know that they are learning to read. It is so important to build a strong foundation and there is no better time to start then in first grade. It is especially important for my English Language learners to listen to the phonemes and the phoneme substitutions. Again phonemic awareness is a key part to children learning to read. After first grade students rarely get the chance to develop these phonemic awareness skills. I want to give them a good and strong foundation to build upon.
