My Students

I am a speech-language pathologist at a K-8 Charter school on Chicago’s south side. Students on my caseload have a wide range of educational diagnoses, including language-based learning disabilities, articulation disorders, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities such as Autism Spectrum disorder, and difficulty speaking with fluency (also known as stuttering). Many of my students struggle with their basic reading and writing skills, whereas others struggle to communicate their basic wants and needs. I am a part of each student’s team, and help develop their individualized education programs (IEPs). IEPs promote each student’s success in school, and in life once they graduate.

My Project

This project is an amalgamation of items I need as a speech pathologist to successfully begin the school year. The books listed will ensure I am providing culturally and linguisitcally appropriate services to students that come from varying backgrounds and experiences. The book on MTSS will assist me in providing prevention based services to students who would benefit from direct or indirect speech and language services. It also includes prizes (i.e. amazon echo, razor scooters) that will be used in our weekly attendance raffle, which is our incentive program to make sure our students are coming to school.
