Starting the Music: Guitars for DPE

My Students

Too many scholars in Harlem never have the opportunity to express themselves through music. Let's change that!

The majority of scholars at DPE are living far below the poverty level and many have never had the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument.

At DPE, we work hard to close the achievement gap in math and reading, but we want to ensure we are building well-rounded citizens. Exposing scholars to music will widen their worldview and their opportunities!

My Project

My students need guitars to learn to play this year. Each day, scholars will get to spend an hour practicing on their very own guitar. They will get a chance to express themselves and explore music, in a way that has shaped many lives. Perhaps the next Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix will be a DPE scholar!

For many people, the first time they pick up a guitar changes their life forever.

They are able to express themselves and explore their own creativity. Please help provide our scholars with this opportunity!
