it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students need to be successful, when students can be successful, that breeds more success. So why not start off the day being successful and having some fun too. Kindergarten is the new first grade and so much emphasis is placed on academics that play is being lost. Play is so important, especially at this young age. Play builds imagination and creativity, fosters cognitive growth, promotes social emotional development, develops problem solving skills and is just plain FUN!
Using STEM bins first thing in the morning, students will be motivated to come to school, arrive on time, and will begin the day with success.
Why STEM? What are morning STEM bins? STEM promotes critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, trial and error, and supports overall academic growth. Morning STEM bins are independent STEM activities, such as building with Legos, stacking blocks or linking cubes, using a balance scale to weigh and compare different objects, setting up dominoes, sorting and counting objects, with may of the bins that I have already created, students are allowed to be creative with how they interact with the items in the bin, allowing for choice and creativity which also promotes a positive classroom environment for all.
