My students need the crayons, pencils and glue so that we have supplies to start off the school year the right way! We need the folders to keep communication open between home and school.
This year, I am working with a great bunch of first graders! In my class, I have 28 of the brightest and best (at least I think so)! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, homelike environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together for not only them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where DonorChoose comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.
My Project
My students will be able to start off the school year strong by receiving these supplies. Not all of my students' families can afford school supplies such as these. Most of them struggle to get food on the table. By funding this project, my students won't have to worry about not having school supplies to do their job...learn.
My students love coming to school, and they love learning.
They come to school every day ready to learn about cause & effect, butterflies, 3 digit addition and plenty more. Without these supplies, they won't be able to do the different activities that will be planned to learn those things.
