This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work at a Title I school in Hampton, Virginia. I have worked with fifth and second grade, and this year I am working with fourth graders.
I work in an awesome school with some pretty fantastic students.
As a teacher, I want to give them the world in order for them to succeed, but that is not possible for a multitude of reasons. I want to make learning fun, engaging, and creative for them. I want to make sure they have the tools to succeed. I want to help develop lifelong learners because I believe that is one of the best things I can do for them. These are things I can do.

My Project
There is no disputing that the 2020-2021 school year was an interesting one. My fourth graders did not have the opportunity to come back to the building until mid-March. No one knew this date until around February.
After the rain comes the rainbow.
As our school year is winding down, I am starting to look ahead to September. I would love to do a rainbow theme to represent a fresh start after the "storm"- the uncertainty of what was this school year. Many of the items on my list are for rainbow-themed classroom decor. Other items included are items we will need regularly- erasers, dry erase markers and erasers, reward stickers.
My goal with this project is to have a welcoming environment for students after a school year that was anything but normal to them.
