This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students enjoy school immensely. Sometimes they get so excited about learning it seems they will just burst. It is infectious.

My students are from a high-poverty region and are predominantly bilingual or English Language Learners.

The students and their families are motivated learners. Some of our parents even come to school to learn along with their children. They are all excited to discover and explore. My amazing kids are deserving of so much more than their economic status currently allows, and I want to do everything I can to help them reach a brighter future.

My Project

My students have had difficulty keeping some of their artwork in good condition when they must put it away for another day. Standard size folders are just not big enough for most art paper and it wrinkles and rips their work. Or, they have had to cut down the paper to fit. Neither choice is optimal. These extra large folders will allow my students to save their in-progress work without damage so that their focus can be their artistic message and not the risk of torn edges. The 24-count coloring pencils will provide greater diversity and color choice than the usual 12 count color selection that we have had.

When mys students are creating and imagining, I do not want them to focus on their limits of color choice or size of paper.

Their thoughts should zone in on their artistic message and who they are so that they can express themselves freely. Please help my students see themselves beautifully and then share that vision freely.
