Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are hardworking, young people that come largely from lower-middle-class households. Each and every day I can't help but marvel at their effort and drive to succeed. These are kids that come early and stay late multiple days a week for tutoring, clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities. More than anything else, my students are funny, loving, respectful, appreciative, responsible, and kind.
These students genuinely deserve so much more than they are allotted by public education budgets.
I do everything I can to help these highly deserving students, but some projects are just too big to self-fund. Your assistance in supporting public school education would be greatly appreciated.
This project's purpose is to offer another FREE sport/afterschool activity to our students. We know that team sports and extracurricular activities are an integral part of the learning process for many students. Joining a team provides many students with purpose and motivation to excel inside the classroom and in their daily lives. I would like to continue to use team sports to motivate students and teach life lessons. My school is a Title I middle school in an urban school district.
With this project, I would like to introduce students to the game of golf. We have already gotten golf clubs donated to the school, but now we need a few hitting mats, nets, and golf balls for the students to begin learning the basics of swinging a club. The plan is to compete against other middle schools this Spring when our School district holds middle school golf tournaments.
I hope you will consider helping us get these materials so we can offer golf at our Title I middle school.
