This year, I am working with a great bunch of first graders! In my class, I have 30 of the most loving, caring, and brightest scholars!
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, homelike environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together not only for them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals, and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where DonorsChoose comes in. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well-established schools have.
My Project
Let's start this school year off ready to learn! My students will be coming to the classroom, after having a fully virtual school year last year. We need to start the year with school supplies already in hand so that they can focus on learning all of the basics they would have learned in Kindergarten, how to use school supplies, how to sit in a classroom, how to ask and answer questions, etc.
After a full year of virtual learning, we are ready to get back into the classroom!
Most of my students have never used dry erase markers or composition notebooks before. By funding this project, you will be giving them access to tools that will help them fill the gaps from the last school year. The composition notebooks are especially great, they give the children space to draw pictures to match their writing! The Ticonderoga Pencils are the best pencils ever, and won't break easily when the children are learning to write. We need crayons to color our beautiful pictures. The markers and erasers will be used to practice math, and for quick answers to yes or no questions.
These kiddos are going to have a hard year ahead of them. Please consider funding this project to make it just a little bit easier for them in their transition from virtual to in-person learning. Thank you!
