This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What if....music could be held? This concept came from a 'What If' book and I would like my students to be able to 'hold' music and see it in a different way.
My students are amazingly gifted and many of them started their musical careers with me.
They all qualify for free lunch and more importantly, they all qualify for an inspiring arts education during their elementary years and beyond. They are eager to learn and be inspired by the arts.
My Project
I would like to connect the art of music and visual art by giving them the opportunity to draw and paint the music they hear. They have all learned about Beethoven, Mozart, Sousa and Duke Ellington (among many others), so they have the concept of genre and mood down. Nevertheless, I would love to take it to the next level and have them transfer their emotions and connections with the music to a 2-D canvas.
What if music could be held or shown?
What will we see? If you decide to fund this project, we will all find out. From Beethoven's 5th to Ellington's ' A Train', our students will be able to express the music's meaning in a whole new way. Thank you.
