This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I service live in the South Bronx. Most of the students live below the poverty level and reside in public housing. Currently, I will be working with first grade students in an ICT setting. These students are performing at various levels from on to below the grade standard. The population of the children in my class are either English language learners, students will disabiliates and general eduation students.

This academic year my goal is to spark a love of reading and writing for all my students!

My students are children that require school to be a place where they not only embark on a learning adventure everyday but an enviroment that reminds them daily; that they are important, that they matter and that we have high expectation for them.

My students are curious little beings that are eager to explore books and tap into thier own lives as authors.

My Project

The basic supplies that I am requesting for this project will be used by all of my students on a daily basis. The large size pencils will support the development of my young students fine motor skills and the electric sharper has a disk that allows for pencils of various sizes to be sharpened. I also requested large erasers, scissors and crayons that will be used for craft and publishing projects.

The materials that I am requesting may not seem special but these are the resources that teachers need to get daily tasks completed and unfortunately, we receive a limited supply of these materials.

The fullfillment of this project will have a hugh impact on how we launch the year!
