My students need an inviting, safe large carpet where they will be able to design and build using soft unit blocks. They will also be able to put puzzles together, color and sort different manipulatives.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My TK students come in full of energy and ready to learn and explore with different materials and manipulatives. They enjoy building things, putting things together and taking them apart.
My students are excited to learn and play with new hands on materials.
They are all transitional kindergarten students, who for many, this is their first schooling experience. My young students are very active and energetic learners. My students will be able to develop motor skills as they explore through these materials. My students attend a Title One School and come from a low social-economic background. Ninety-eight percent of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Due to continuous budget cuts, our school is limited in purchasing supplies our students need. As a result, my students don't have many materials or manipulatives they can play with and learn from.
My Project
Starting a new school year is exciting and nerve wrecking for many of these young 4 year old students. Having the right materials and tools will help them learn and develop their social skills as well as their fine motor skills.
I would like to begin the new school year by having new and exciting materials and tools for my students to explore with.
I would like my students to sit on a new rug where they can use their imagination to build things using the soft foam blocks. They can also put puzzles together while they develop their motor skills and build logical thinking skills as they play. My students will be able to develop their fine motor skills by using crayons, scissors and molding play dough.
