My group of fourth-graders are extremely bright, witty, and ready to explore each and every day! We live in a very rural community surrounded by woods and farmland, but we would not change it for anything.
Even at 100% free or reduced-price lunch rates, we have been ranked first in our conference for student achievement.
We are proud of where we live and how we have grown to overcome many challenges. Low-income does not equal low expectations for our students!
My Project
"I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book." ~J.K. Rowling
This book by Kate DiCamillo can be just that for my students, something magical.
We would love to be able to read this book as a class novel study. Every student would have his or her own copy so we may find the magic of Edward Tulane together. Reluctant readers would be pulled along with the rest of us and before they know it, they too will find the joy in reading. Reading is never a chore but is something special to be shared.
