"Instruments up! Ready to play?" Almost... 4-6th grade students at Rivercrest Elementary are ready to play the recorder for the first time in recent history, but they are in desperate need of classroom music stands.
My school is a consolidated district and consolidated in every way!
Students from all races and social backgrounds struggle to learn how to live and cooperate together in the Mississippi delta. We have a wonderful new elementary building and a strong foundation of dedicated teachers who are committed to loving this generation of students. We are in such great need however, because our students have such great needs!
My Project
My students will have the chance to progress faster by working in small pairs with their music on stands in the classroom. Students currently rely on music being projected to the group which is difficult to see for many. Younger students will be able to use the stands for their vocal music as well. Being able to read lyrics and follow the actual sheet music is vital for music literacy! Music stands free the hands to move and clap while we still are able to see the music.
Giving these students the tools they need to feel like real musicians is important.
The gift will give my students the tools they need to succeed in music. Being able to play an instrument is a gift that teaches discipline, the benefits of hard work and offers much confidence. My students playing together and singing together can learn to better work together with this project funded!
