A typical day in our band is that of buzzing excitement. With a growing program, the number of bodies in the room has doubled in the last two years.
Our gong has currently been hung on a stand rack.
Our students are a diverse population from a Title 1 school with a hunger to learn and succeed.
They very much want to have a band like some of the other schools in our district which are larger and more established. Our band went quiet for almost two decades before being brought back by some of our other Performing Arts teachers at our school. Our growth has been exciting, but also highlighted the lack of a band over the decades when they were not active.
My Project
This stand will help students to play our gong with proper technique and without the possibility of the stand rack tipping over on them. Equipment is hard to come by and the expenses add up quickly, so any help that we can get from the community is appreciated more than we can express in words.
This would mean so much to provide students with proper equipment.
We are working for continued growth and expansion of our program, but in order teach them how to be good musicians, they need basic equipment. A gong isn't much without a stand to hold it.
