Standing Desks for Student Success!

Help me give my students three standing desks to enhance their focus and get some energy out so that they can be successful in class!

My Project

For years I've heard students being told to sit down, sit still, stop moving around so much! For so many students, they just can't! They actually need to stand and move around to focus and it can be frustrating for students to get redirected for moving around, when what they really need is to be receiving the accommodations that they need for success. Standing desks can help many students, including students with ADHD, sensory needs, anxiety or even just a student having a rough day. There is a great amount of research that discusses how beneficial standing desks are for students of all ages, including a 2016 study out of Texas A&M University that observed improvements in students' executive functioning and working memory. Other benefits can include increased concentration, improvement in mood and energy and with impulsive behaviors.

I have selected three standing desks, one for each of our middle school classes so that students have the opportunity to stand and work, when they need to.

I can't wait to see the amazing support the desks provide my students and their increased success!
