My Project

This project is inspired by Service Stars and will help my kids complete a student-led community service project where they will Speak Out.

My diverse group of middle school students has many ideas that I would love to help bring to life.

My students are naturally curious about history. When I teach them about the past and social justice, they become fully engaged and eager for more knowledge.

These tools will help me implement a project in which students are at the center of fighting for a cause affecting their community.

Students will embark on a journey to explore various injustices in their community (issues such as racism, lack of representation, and intolerance), and will have an opportunity to discuss what topic they feel they can help solve and make a positive difference in. The resources I have requested will help them organize campaigns around their cause by creating posters and yard signs and placing them around the community. They will speak with community members, host an assembly and ask people to wear pins they have made to further their message. They will also create videos to propel their efforts and spread the message on social media, raising awareness in the broader community.
