My students, for this particular project, have speech-language impairments in addition to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders etc that affect them from providing their full attention throughout the day. This makes teaching difficult when you have students that are wiggle worms.
My students range from sixth to eighth graders.
Some are in the general education setting receiving inclusion services while others remain in an ESE classroom. Behaviors throughout the day can affect learning, but I've found flexible seating to be beneficial.
My Project
The wobble stools I currently have are awesome for students that are needing that sensory input, however I still have those that like to lean on tables and stand up. The standing table and fidgets would be a great addition to the final need for flexible seating. This will also determine to assist my school as I trial these items to decide if more teachers should invest these items in their classrooms. It would eliminate many students being reprimanded and kicked out of class for something that is difficult to manage. The fidgets, when given rules, always have shown to be beneficial for those moving fingers.
