My Students

Music is defined as the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity. I have the honor and pleasure of teaching three ensembles of varying ability levels where my students continue to astound me by their growth and musicianship. They work hard everyday to improve their technique and musicianship as well as their individual character. My goal for my classroom is to help all of these students to play with one concordant sound and to work as a singular cohesive unit. This ensures that, as an ensemble, they move as a group instead of as individuals.

Music has been proven to improve a student's overall well-being as students and as people.

I work at a Title I school where the majority of the population is on free or reduced lunch. I want to give my students every possible advantage so that they can reach their highest potential in music, school and life in general.

My Project

The Manhasset music stands will be a welcome and necessary addition to my classroom. The quality and durability of these music stands will save the music program money in the future, by removing the extra expense of purchasing materials multiple times. The funding of this project will also allow my students to have the quality of resources that they deserve. As simple as music stands may seem, in actuality they provide an essential resource for the advancement of my students and the music program as a whole. As with any other classroom, students need to have all supplies and resources to experience academic success. This is doubly true in a band room, as musical success correlates to academic success.
