When you walk into my classroom, you will see many different seating options for my students. Some are sitting in a chair at the table, and others are at the standing table and desks, in a little rocker chair, and even in a laundry basket. Welcome to a room with flexible seating!
My students are eager learners.
They love to read, play math games, work on coding and write stories. They work and collaborate with one another to learn. One of my goals in teaching is to foster children's creativity, imagination, critical thinking, decision making and perseverance. My students are challenged to think deeper throughout the day. A physical environment that allows students to move freely and gives comfort while working would help them focus better and increase work quality.
My Project
Fist graders are just like us adults when it comes to working. Can you imagine sitting in a hard chair and working all day? I know I won't be able to focus too long! We all need to be able to move a little to keep our minds fresh to learn. I believe in providing young students with many seating options to meet their physical and emotional needs. I would love to have a couple of balance boards and standing desks that give students a little movement while they stand and work.
Please help me with this project so that my students can have a great place to learn and grow into future innovators!
