Help me give my students the resources they need to thrive in theatre, including books for drama and performance, storage bins for organizing props and costumes, posters to decorate the walls and inspire creativity.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love my students’ enthusiasm and their willingness to dive into new experiences. They bring a unique energy to the theater classroom and are always excited to learn, collaborate, and explore their creativity. They have so much potential, and I want to give them the resources that will help them discover and develop their skills in acting, design, and storytelling.
The resources I’m requesting—books, storage bins, posters, a paper cutter, and LED lights—will make a significant difference in their learning.
The books will expose them to a variety of theatrical styles and perspectives, helping them deepen their understanding of theater and storytelling. The storage bins will help keep our classroom organized, ensuring that props and costumes are easily accessible and well-maintained, which is essential for efficient rehearsal time. The posters will help create a visually stimulating environment, sparking their creativity and motivation. The paper cutter will allow students to design and create their own props and set pieces with precision, giving them hands-on experience with set design and craftsmanship. Finally, the LED lights will enhance our black box theater, providing opportunities for students to experiment with different lighting techniques and add depth to their performances.
My goal for this project is to create an environment that nurtures creativity, collaboration, and learning. I want my students to develop the skills and confidence to express themselves through theater, while learning to work as a team to bring their ideas to life on stage. What makes my students special is their passion, resilience, and eagerness to learn. Despite the challenges that come with starting late in the year, they are determined and ready to give their best effort. With these resources, I believe they will not only succeed but exceed their own expectations.
